Characterization of Monarch Butterfly Habitats and Stressors Affecting Larval Survival
This project aims to identify stressors affecting monarch survival in the U.S. Midwest. We are evaluating the effects of exposure of monarch larvae to common pesticides used in agricultural environments in Nebraska. Larvae exposed to these stressors will be compared to controls to determine effects on fitness. In the long term this information will contribute to potentially identify mitigation strategies to protect monarch butterflies and pollinators in Nebraska.
